We now have many members from surrounding areas including Luton, Barnet, Watford, Bushey, Welwyn Garden City, Stevenage and further afield.
Tri-Force began in 1995 and while the membership has increased rapidly from 3 to around 140, the club still remains friendly and sociable.
The objective is for Tri-Force to provide the framework for Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire multi-sports athletes, typically those in running and cycling clubs who want to compete in sports such as Triathlon, Duathlon, and Adventure Racing.
We have a great deal of triathlon training experience, good coaches, a growing list of loan equipment and a training program that is complimentary to, rather than competitive with local running and cycling clubs. For example, sessions are specifically scheduled to avoid clashing with cycle and running club sessions.
Some of our members take part in the major races, both in the UK and abroad, including Ironman races (2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike and 26.2 mile run) and the ITU Wolrd Championships for Triathlon (1500m swim, 40k bike and 10k run), Long Distance Triathlon (similar to Ironman) and Duathlons (just bike and run).
However, to be honest most of the club participate in a number of shorter (or 'sprint') distance races (generally 400m, 20km, 5km). We select a varied programme of races, mainly sprint distance but with some standard distance, for our club race calendar, which acts as the focus for the club's racing.
