  • On Saturday 13th June 2009, James Harper, Sarah Eames and Emily Eames competed in the East Essex Kids Triathlon held at South Woodham Ferrers in Essex.

10 year old Emily started first, swimming 200 metres, cycling 3000 metres and running 1800 metres in the 11-12 year old catagory. Her total time of 30 minutes 58 seconds and 14th place moves her up to 5th position in the Triathlon England Eastern Region league.

Sarah finished in 10th position in the age 13-14 catagory, completing swim bike and run distances of 300 metres, 4000 metres and 2400 metres in a total time of 38 minutes 42 seconds. Sarah will keep her 2nd position in the TEER league.

James started in the last wave in the mid afternoon. Excellent times in the swim and bike sections, swim - 400 metres in 5 minutes 31 seconds, bike - 5000 metres in 14 minutes 14 seconds and a good time of 14 minutes 45 seconds in the 3000 metres run, despite the hot conditions towards the end of the race, gave James a 6th place in the 15-16 year old catagory. This result means James will move up to 2nd place in the TEER league.

The next 'key race' in the series is at Cambridge on Sunday 28th June. The other two key races will be Norwich on Saturday 4th July and Tri Force's open race at St Albans on Sunday 19th July.

  • Holmwood House Triathlon Sunday 17th May 2009.

Sisters Sarah and Emily Eames got up early on Sunday 17th May 2009 and travelled across to Essex to compete in The Holmwood House Triathlon , held in school grounds just outside Colchester.

Emily, aged 10 and competing in the 11-12 age group, started first; despite being last out of the 196 metre swim, she put in one of the fastest bike splits over 4000 metres, and then held on during the 1800 metre run to finish in 31 minutes 46 seconds and 10th overall.

Sarah, aged 13, started later in the 13-14 age group; a reasonable 280 metre swim and a strong 6000 metre bike split put her into a good position going into the 2400 metre run, however during the run she struggled with cramp and in heavy rain and so was unable to improve on her position. However Sarah finished in 43 minutes 25 seconds in 4th place, just out of the medals.

Emily has moved up to 6th in The Triathlon Eastern Region children's league, Sarah is now in an impressive 2nd place. Both are looking forward to their next race, The East Essex Kids Triathlon on Saturday 13th June. This will be their first of four races in five weekends, and also their first 'Key Race' in the 2009 league.
